SHRED 2 SHED!

What is SHRED 2 SHED?

Have you ever known the beauty and vibrancy of vegetables?

When you take something like a carrot, clean it, and then grate it....
it turns into this heaping pile of the most vibrantly orange food you can imagine.
The smells of the carrot burst open and fill your nostrils with some sort of,
magical aliveness.

It is so very hard to explain, and it is something that you must experience.

SHRED 2 SHED is a concept of shredding your vegetables, and even fruits...
and then eating immediately.

The COLORS, SMELLS, and ALIVENESS of the food is ssometimes..
OVERWHELMING!

However, it is as healthy as a food option as you can eat,
full of vitality and life,
healthy & nutritious,
full of flavor,

AND believe it or not...it WILL fill you up!

AND it will help you to SHED weight!

Enjoy shredding any fruits and vegetables and getting creative with combinations.
Top with dressings, lemon juice, oils, or honey!

KICK IT - PICK IT - Review of Oxygen Magazines "Eat Better"!

I love the KICK IT - PICK IT
sections of any books, magazine,...

and especially Oxygen Magazine because
#1 they are my favorite magazine
for fitness & clean eating inspiration!

Here is my review of this "Eat Better" section:

* Eating a Turkey Burger is a excellent choice instead of eating regular cheeseburgers. These are great to make at home, bake, grill, or saute in a pan with a little olive oil or non-stick spray....and some restaurants are now serving these and bison burgers on their menus.

TIP: Toss the bun and wrap the burger in lettuce.

* Baked sweet potatoe wedges are one of my favorite sides and snacks. Yes they are a carbohydrate and a starch but they don't chemically breakdown in the body the same way that regular potatoes do, and they pack extra vitamins and minerals. Most athletes that get their body fat percentage really low eat sweet potatoes and so that means it is not likely you will gain a lot of weight eating them either, and in fact can lose weight eating them.

TIP: Cut into cubes and bake in coconut oil for a great snack.

* Plain oats slowing cooked in a pot on the stove with a little bit of almond milk is a great way to get your carbs without eating a bunch of processed foods, it will leave you full all morning, and you can sweeten it up naturally with fruit and honey.

TIP: Use oats instead of flower as a base for pancake batter.

* Whole wheat pasta,....I am not a huge fan of we wheat or wheat pasta and in my personal experience whole wheat pasta has been very hard for my body to digest.

TIP: Make your own zucchini noodles instead using a special tool called the Spiral vegetable slicer.
This vegetable slicers has literally been a pasta saver for me and my family and we LOVE using it!

This is actually less expensive than the one I purchased at Wal-Mart!
Get yours here -->>> http://bit.ly/SpiralVeggieSlicer

* You can't go wrong with Mixed greens! You can have as many vegetables as you want, all day long, and can shred, cut, or dice the vegetables to create a unique salad.

TIP: Try olive oil, fresh squeezed lemon, and honey for your dressing. It is fantastic!

* Plain low-fat yogurt is a great way to get a healthy snack that keeps you full for a little while, and truly the added benefits are the healthy bacteria that every persons gut needs to function properly.

TIP: Eat unsweetened Greek yogurt instead, and add fruit & honey, cinnamon, and nut butter. Stir well and use as a dip for fruits!

I highly recommend the Spiral Vegetable Slicer!

You can get one from Amazon by clicking on this link or on the photos below.

It is only $13.97 at Amazon, and I paid more for that at Wal-Mart!

HOLY GUACAMOLE!

I just had to share this photo because:
#1 It's Hilarious
#2 It's Ironic
#3 I love Avocados

So the reason I think this is hilarious is because I love FOOD HUMOR!

Have you ever given food, or any object for that matter, a personality?
It's a fantastic and harmless way to use your creativity and imagination, and works wonders with children who are afraid of certain foods. It's also just FUN!
So, I love it when an artist really taps into FOOD HUMOR, it's just good for the soul!

The reason that this is IRONIC, is because most people these days think that:
ALL FATS = GET FAT
But this is a MYTH. Healthy fats do not solely cause a person to get fat, and are in fact needed by the body to function properly and gives the digestive track and glands some lubrication.
I personally have eaten a diet high in healthy fats for years and it has never compromised my weight loss or health goals. I have actually been healthier than ever in my life!

Did you know: Eskimos eat a diet high in healthy fats such as fish, fish oils and blubber and are some of the healthiest people in the world? YES it's true!

And Finally, I love this because I love Avocados!
They are fantastic to eat by themselves, or added to meals, on top of a salad, mixed with eggs, put in smoothies and shakes, or my favorite, used to make guacamole!

Deidra's EASY Guacamole:
1. Dice an avocado into cubes
2. Cut a lemon or lime into quarters and squeeze over avocado.
3. Add diced cilantro and onion for flavoring.
4. Sprinkle some sea salt onto mixture.
5. Stir a few times, leaving the mixture chunky.

Do you LIKE Avocados as much as I do?

Leave you comments below! I Love hearing from you!!

FRESH Lime Cilantro Fajita Chicken with Fresh Pico & Guacamole!

I love cooking up something this simple, and so clean!

The reason I love meals like this is because they are so easy to do, but I must warn you that chopping and dicing does take a little time versus just throwing something in the oven. The reason why this is worth it though, is because it is all LIVE and FRESH. All of the natural flavors are contained, but MOST IMPORTANTLY all of the live enzymes, vitamins, and minerals are still there and haven't been cooked out of the foods.

The only thing that I cooked in this meal was the chicken, but that is because I am definitely not eating chicken RAW!  We save the RAWNESS for fruits and vegetables.

I grew up in Texas, and had Tex-Mex and real authentic Mexican foods all of the time! Now that I live in Florida, I traded Tex-Mex for beaches, and I am completely fine with that. However, that means I crave it a LOT and have to find ways to get my tacos and eat them too, lol! (Like they saying, I want my cake and I want to eat it too!)

I loved that my upbringing also brought people into my life that taught me how to make dishes and recipes, and that I learned how to make dishes (that sort of resemble) the real deal.

It really curbs my cravings anyway, and is clean enough to still lose weight or maintain your weight.

I think what I love the most is the smell of FRESH LIME! Ahh the FRESHNESS fills the air and makes my mouth water!  Okay, enough rambling! :)

So, First of all, this is a gluten free, grain free, easy meal option.

All I did was cut up some chicken breast and put that in a baking dish with some olive oil, cilatnro, sea salt and lime. I then baked that at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

While that was baking, I chopped up tomatoes, onions and cilantro for FRESH PICO!

And then I diced an avocado, and added some diced onion, fresh squeezed lime juice and a little bit of guacamole seasoning.

Then I just ate it all straight out of the bowls with some bean chips (grain free)!

It was fantastic, delicious, and has that Mexican Food flair that I miss so much, but without all of the fat and carbs.

(TIP: I used the leftovers in an omelette the next day...YUM!)

I hope you enjoy and if you would like to see any more foods or recipes please comment below!
I look forward to hearing from you!!

Mango Strawberry Salsa!!!

My neighbor brought me some fresh mangos, and I wanted to make something sweet to go with some salty chips! This a great weight loss recipe because you can have a few chips with a whole lotta salsa and it won't hurt your diet!

This recipe is so delicious!  It has a sort of sweet & salty mix to it.  I love FRESH FRUIT!
So what I decided to do was make some fresh Strawberry Mango Salsa, or Mango Strawberry Salsa, whatever you want to call it.
Here is how I made my recipe, and it was SO GOOD!!
1/2 - 1 Pint Strawberries Cubed
2 Mangos Cubed
Cilantro diced
Red Pepper Diced
A tiny bit of fresh jalapeno, diced
Fresh Squeezed Juice of 1 lime
I then mixed it all together and that is it! So Fast, So Easy, and just dip with chips.

TIP: Spoon leftover salsa over grilled chicken! YUMMO!

New Year, New Motivation! Is there something killing your motivation?

Every year is a new start! Right?! Every year I hear people talking about their New Year's goals and resolutions, and one of those goals is typically to "Lose Weight," or to "Eat Better," or to "Get in Better Shape."

I haven't heard a lot of this, this year. The reason I think this is, is because so many women are already on this path. It seems like this lifestyle is becoming more and more popular and that more women are not waiting until the New Year to really set the goals, but more along the lines of having those goals all year. Around the holidays, it seems that everyone "slacks off" their goals, but they don't lose their goals.

It seems to me that more and more women are looking for a healthier lifestyle, and the main thing that lags is MOTIVATION!

What motivates you? What KILLS your motivation? I could list a hundred and one motivation killers and the solutions that I use to regain my motivation. In fact, I should do this every day on this blog if I had the time for it.

So here are mine, and my friends/co-workers top 5 motivation killers!

1. Not enough time
2. Too tired/exhausted
3. Too stressed
4. Not know where to start/overwhelmed
5. Unsupportive Environment

Do these sound familiar? Well they are super common, and the main thing to know is that you are not alone. Examine if any of these, or all of these are killing your motivation, and see what you can do about it.

If you are having a hard time with any of these, email me, message me, comment to me and I  can work with you to see if there are some things you can do to start boosting you motivation, and turn your life and your goals around for happiness and success.
